RIP IT OR SHIP IT BOOK TAG || FT. MY POOR ATTEMPT AT CALLIGRAPHY

GOOD DAY, BOOKDRAGONS!

I’ve been MIA for weeks again (has it been weeks? My rusty brain is quaking) and I feel so bad that I’ve not been giving this blog my full attention lately but unfortunately, school should come first. If this world were different, I would ditch school, blog full time, and rule a world or two but nah life doesn’t work like that. I need to go to school so that I can get a good job and earn money to buy more books.

YES BUYING BOOKS IS A PRIORITY.

Today’s post is a tag originally made by one of my most favorite booktubers, Emma (@emmmabooks) and after years of being created, I’m finally doing this on my blog! I also missed doing tags and I worked so hard on this post so I hope y’all will enjoy it as much as I did while making it.

HOW DOES THE RIP IT OR SHIP IT TAG WORK? 

1. Choose some book characters’ names.

2. ‎Write every single one of them on a piece of paper.

3. ‎Put them in a jar/cup/bowl/hollow skull and randomly pick two slips of paper.

4. ‎Decide whether you should ship the two chosen book characters or nah

That’s it! In this post, I chose 21 book characters, attempted to write their names prettily (spoiler alert: the calligraphy is poor), and put their names inside a mason jar. I included names of some beloved characters and plenty of hated characters as well so expect some cringe-worthy pairings ahead. I also purposefully chose 21 names so that the last one without a pair will have no choice but to be paired with ME. HA HA HOW FORTUNATELY UNFORTUNATE OF THEM.

I suck at explaining rules so I hope you actually got the gist of this tag. Either way, I’m gonna start now. Just don’t mind my poor attempts at calligraphy thank you very much.

THE RIP IT OR SHIP IT BOOK TAG (FT. MY POOR CALLIGRAPHY SKILLS) 

ROUND 1

Victor Vale (from Villains) x Kronos (from Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

Ship name: Vinos

THE HORRIFYING SHIP NAME SAYS IT ALL. I’m ripping this ship! When I randomly picked these two names, I physically gagged. My boy Victor does not deserve a child-eating Titan who easily gets distracted by a blue hairbrush. I would love to see Victor fighting Kronos head-on though. Oops scratch that. I want to see Victor BEATING Kronos. Dude can do that in no time.

ROUND 2

Rhysand (from ACOTAR) x Dolores Umbridge (from Harry Potter)

Ship name: Dorhy??? 

NO. ABSOLUTELY NO. *rips their ship into oblivion*

Umbridge is nastier than my three-month-old cough and there’s no way in any universe that I’m going to ship her with Rhys. No one deserves Umbridge except the meanest person imaginable. Rhys does not deserve to live his immortal life with a toxic frog. Not that Rhys will ever let Umbridge get near him 💁

ROUND 3

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius (from Throne of Glass) x Nikolai Lantsov (from the Grisha trilogy)

Ship name: Nikoaelin 

(I suck at making ship names sorry)

LOOK AT THIS SHIP. If you know me well, you’re probably aware just how much of a Nikolai Lantsov trash I am (just hearing his name gives me clear skin asdfghjkl) and I will give everything to make him happy. Aelin will probably give Nikolai a hundred headaches but I think they also complement each other really well??? Okay I’m confused here. I’m not 100% sold on the Nikoaelin ship but I can imagine that Aelin and Nikolai will make a powerful couple. They can be a king-queen tandem that will rule the world by sea and fire.

I actually want Nikolai for myself but FINE. I ship this couple. I just want my Nikolai to be happy. *sobs for 10 hours*

ROUND 4

Voldemort (from Harry Potter) x Inej Ghafa (from Six of Crows)

Ship name: Volin? Mortej?? Voldej???

PFFT NO. Inej will probably slit Voldy’s throat before he can even say “nose”. Plus Kaz will surely back Inej up and will gouge Voldy’s eyes out of their sockets for good measure. Inej and Kaz will always be the power couple. Voldy doesn’t even stand a chance.

THIS SHIP IS RIPPED.

ROUND 5

Hermione Granger (from Harry Potter) x Leo Valdez (from Heroes of Olympus)

Ship name: Leone

NOW WE’VE FINALLY STRUCK GOLD. This is the ship of a lifetime. Leo will give Hermione vertigo and will probably disturb her when she’s reading but I can picture them inventing things together since they’re both smart. Leo is also the type of guy who can ease whatever pressure Hermione is feeling and I’m 100% here for this.

ROUND 6

Zélie Adebola (from Children of Blood and Bone) x Bellatrix Lestrange (from Harry Potter)

Ship name: Zéltrix

This pairing will surely cause chaos. Bellatrix will kill every human in sight and Zélie will try to protect everyone at all costs by raising the dead. The cycle will be tiring, I tell you. Zélie has also been through a lot and I don’t want her to waste energy on a deranged witch who is in love with a noseless evil wizard.

ROUND 7

Kell Maresh (from the Shades of Magic trilogy) x Cardan (from The Cruel Prince)

Ship name: Kelldan

(YES BEST SHIP NAME SO FAR)

Ooh now this is interesting. Kell and Cardan are both complex characters but I don’t think they’re compatible. Sure they have stabby streaks and murderous tendencies but I just don’t see them getting along with each other.

This blood magician x fae ship is RIPPED.

ROUND 8

Rhy Maresh (from the Shades of Magic trilogy) x Feyre Archeron (from ACOTAR)

Ship name: Feyrhy

(Please don’t tell Feyre that I used her last name if you don’t want to see me reduced to shreds)

Ah I’m afraid I’ll have to rip this ship. I think Rhy and Feyre will get along well with each other as friends, not as lovers. They’ll spend days drinking, talking, and laughing at random things. Come to think of it, I think Rhy will fit right in the Inner Circle. Now that’s a perfect image.

ROUND 9

The Darkling (from the Grisha trilogy) x Richard Gansey III (from The Raven Cycle) 

Ship name: Dark Gansey (lmao)

I CAN’T SEE THIS HAPPENING IN A MILLION YEARS. Gansey and The Darkling are polar opposites. My boy Gansey has a golden aura that can light up nine towns and The Darkling has the darkest vibe that can extinguish all the light from those towns. Even though they say opposites attract, I can’t imagine an attraction happening between these two. NEVER.

ROUND 10

 

Lila Bard (from the Shades of Magic trilogy) x Jem Carstairs (from The Infernal Devices)

Ship name: Lijem

OH HELLO I SHIP THIS. Lila is one of the stabbiest characters I’ve ever met but I’m sure that even her dark soul will succumb to Jem’s purity. Ok let’s face it: NO ONE CAN RESIST JEM CARSTAIRS.

Jem is also a great warrior and I think Lila will enjoy training and fighting demons and whatnot with him. I can also envision Jem as Lila’s Pirate King. The purest pirate king alive of course. Sorry, Kell. I ship this.

NOW FOR THE LAST ROUND. As I have said earlier, I will decide whether to ship myself or nah with the last name left on the mason jar. Just a disclaimer: I DIDN’T CHEAT HERE, OKAY? I put all my trust on fate and it didn’t fail me.

The last ship is…

PERCY JACKSON AND ME!!! 

Ship name: Perrain (not my best creation obviously)

When I opened the slip of paper and found Percy’s name waiting for me, angels sang, my skin cleared, and the sun shone brighter as ever. THIS IS A SHIP MADE IN HEAVEN I’M TELLING YOU.

It’s actually Percy’s fault that I have such high standards when it comes to boys. Oh well, Percabeth is the perfect ship but I think our ship could work. Maybe.

Just let me dream okay??? Just this once let me dream.

Aaaand that’s it! This could’ve worked better as a video because I think my disgusted face when I picked the worst ships will make you laugh than any word I write but because I’m an introvert with no confidence for booktube, I have nothing more to offer you but my words. And my poor calligraphy skills. And my awful ship names. Please bear with me.

I’m so so sorry for my inconsistent posts. I’m doing my best but I’m finding it hard to juggle school and blogging. Nevertheless, I will never let go of this blog and I refuse to go on an official hiatus because I’m a stubborn dragon.
