I’M JOINING THE YEAR OF THE ASIAN READING CHALLENGE || FT. MY TBR LIST AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Hullo bookdragons!

I’m finally breathing fresh air again because I’M ALREADY DONE WITH MY FINAL EXAMS! I spent three days without proper sleep and gained a huge pimple on my forehead with all the stress but I still survived everything. It’s not as great as saving a kingdom on the verge of destruction but I still feel the same kind of victory nonetheless. I’m not happy about the pimple but it’s just a minor setback, right??? Right.

Anyway, this post isn’t about my life as a struggling student but it’s an announcement post for one of the greatest things that has ever happened since chocolates! I’M TALKING ABOUT THE YEAR OF THE ASIAN READING CHALLENGE which is hosted by four of the greatest bloggers I know—CW, Lily, Shealea and Vicky.

I don’t really join reading challenges but this one is too great to miss. I have already voiced out my desires to read more books by Asian authors this year and it seems like the book deities really heard my prayers because this challenge is here to give me more motivation. The Year of the Asian Reading Challenge encourages every bookdragon to read Asian books—may they be backlist titles, ARCs, or new releases. To know more about YARC, check out CW’s post here. SIGN-UP AND JOIN US TOO! There will be epic giveaways, monthly link-ups, prompts, recommendations, and twitter chats. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS, BOOKDRAGONS.

CHALLENGE LEVEL

There are different challenge levels you can choose from and as much as I want to aim for that Bengali Tiger (50+ books read), I really don’t have any more sacrificial arms to spare. Even though I want to read all the books, school is just too big of a hindrance to all my reading goals.

THE MALAYAN TAPIR LOOKS JUST AS GOOD ANYWAY so I’m choosing it for now. Here’s to wishing I can read 21-30 Asian books this year!

WHAT BOOKS DO I WANT TO READ?

I’m a mood reader so consistent TBR lists don’t really work for me. This time though, I’m making a tentative list to make my life more organized. Here are some Asian books I want to read this year:

  1. I actually would like to make this a goal this year and not just simply reading but throwing some $$ to some of these books. Representation is important and not only do these book sound fantastic but showing how much I want these books is just as important.

  2. Well done on finished our final exams— freedom at last. Such a great feeling.
Good luck with reading all the glorious books— so nice to see lots of Asian reads.
I’m not taking part in the YARC as I am trying to finish all the books I have on my shelf at the moment but all these lists of Asian books I will be coming back to because I would love to read more Asian books. I thankfully have two on my shelf to read at the minute and am very excited to get to them. And then I will buy lots more Asian books when finished. Yay!!!

  3. Hey Rainy girl! I’m glad you’re done with exams. I hope they went well. I’ve yet to face this annual gruesome monster.
I can vouch for the awesomeness that is Aru Shah! Simply CAN’T wait for A Song of Death! They all seem like great books and several are quite popular. Gilded Wolves and Girls of Paper and Fire are high on TBR. More power to Asian authors and Asian reader who aspire to be authors! ❤

  6. CONGRATS ON SURVIVING FINALS, and sorry about the forehead pimple. May it clear away quickly so you can get back on your road to world domination!

I am so excited that you are participating, too! I also just made a list of 15 books I will read this year but that’s as much of a TBR as I will get hahaha. We have some books in common… maybe we can try another buddy read!
