Hullo, bookdragons!

I know you probably don’t know this but IT’S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY! I officially turned 18 but the Great Prophecy that will turn my life into a huge adventurous messβ„’ is still nowhere to be seen. WHERE ARE ALL THE OMINOUS ORACLES AT??? Will some wizard knock on my door today and bring some news of impending doom? Come at me now! I’m the protagonist who won’t look at you quizzically if you tell me I’m the Chosen One.Β

Oh well, I think no one would come for me today so I decided to do something special instead. WE’LL DO A SPECIAL Q & A THINGY! I begged asked my Twitter mutuals yesterday to send some questions for this post and as of today, I received 50 or so questions. I didn’t even think I’d get 10 questions. Y’ALL REALLY LOVE ME I’M SOBBING.

I really want to answer all your questions so I’ve decided that this Q & A will have many parts. For now, I’ll just answer the first 15 questions on my list. Watch out for the other parts in the weeks to come!

Let’s start, shall we?

1. Can you teach me to be as awesome as you are?Β

No this is not a self-generated question. I swear someone really asked me this. SOMEONE REALLY CALLED ME AWESOME I AM DEFINITELY NOT CRYING NOW.

*wipes eyes*

Okay. I don’t need to teach y’all to be awesome because I think you already are. Just always breed positivity and spread bookdragon fire 24/7!

2. What is a book that changed you – for better or worse?

The Hate U Give is a life-changing book that taught me my voice is important and that it can make a huge ripple in the world. Of course, the whole Harry Potter series changed my life too because it taught me that love and friendship are the highest forms of magic.Β

Technically, I chose 8 books but it’s my birthday today so I can definitely cheat, right??

3. What book would you recommend to someone who never reads?

4. What is your favourite food and why?

I love adobo so much. It’s a Filipino cuisine that makes me leap to the dining table once it’s served. Well, I adore it because it’s delicious. No other justification needed.

5. What was the final push you needed to start your blog and bookstagram?

YOUR SUPPORT. I would have remained to be a spectator in the void if not for my friends’ encouragement. Special shoutout to my Twitter family (hullo HSG) and my awesome mutuals who said that I could be good at blogging and bookstagramming. Thank you for always putting up with my shenanigans and my bookish ramblings. *sends y’all a hundred crates of chocolates*

6. β€ŽHow do you manage time for school and blogging AND bookstagramming AND reading? Teach me your dark magic.

*clears thought and summons ominous voice*

The secrets of the dark magic are closely guarded and should never be fully disclosed to the public. If said secrets would fall into the wrong hands, this world would go down in flames.

Or you know, just manage your time and set aside your school works for a few years minutes for a bit of reading, blogging, and bookstagramming.

7. If you were stuck on an island and could only have 3 books with you, which books would they be?

I HAVE NO IDEA. I’m so bad at choosing. Maybe one of my favorite trilogies? Like ADSOM, Grisha, Magnus Chase or Kane Chronicles. There. I can’t choose any further.

8. Some idiot muggle wants to stop your book buying spree at a book market: Avada kedavra or stupefy?

WHAT A CLEVER QUESTION. Hmm I’d go for Stupefy because I’m not that soulless as a Death Eater to use the Killing Curse on a book shopping pooper yet. LOOK AT THIS RESTRAINT. I’m finally succeeding in life.

9. What’s one blog post that you’re especially proud of?

I’ve said this a hundred times before but I’ll say it again: I’m proudest of my first brainchild, WHY HUMANS SHOULD STOP CALLING US BOOKWORMS. It’s my first blog post and I poured all of my soul into it. I’d make it my horcrux if I were soulless enough to do so. I’d pass for now though. I still love to keep my nose and my hair (plus my soul of course) intact.

10. What’s one book/series from your childhood that you want to reread?

I want to re-read all my Baby-Sitters club books because I miss my homegirls Stacey, Mary Anne and the others (look I can’t remember all their names anymore this is a disgrace). This series was a huge part of my early bookdragon life so I’d love to reread them someday.

11. If your life were a movie, what genre would it be and who would play you?

I would love it to be a fantasy retelling of my mundane life (I don’t know how we can pull this off but let me dream). I also want it to be ANIMATED with Emma Watson as the voice actress for yours truly.

Fine. This seems to be too much of a stretch but we’ll work something out eventually.

12. What’s one thing you really want to accomplish/have happen this year?

I WANT TO SURVIVE THE YEAR. With all the heart-wrenching new book releases and school, surviving would be very great thank you so much.

Oh, I hope a can read a hundred books too. Highly improbable but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

13. Besides books, what does your hoard consist of?

Hmm I hoard pens and notebooks. And bookmarks too. I also hoard pictures of my favorite actors because I’m trash. I am to emulate Smaug with the hoarding so I’m trying to be extra here.

14. β€ŽDo you keep a blogging schedule?

NO. My life is a ball of randomness and I only post if I have the time and the bright idea for new content. I post once or twice a week if I can but there are no specific posting days. Totally an epitome of organization here. I 100% deserve chocolates.

15. β€ŽAny bookstagram tips?

The Instagram algorithm is as confusing as my handwriting at 3AM and I admit that I still don’t know how it works even after 6 months of creating my account. Okay I won’t pretend here now. I don’t know if I entered bookstagram 6 months ago but let’s just say I’m still relatively new to the community.

Nevertheless, I’ve got some advice for y’all: JOIN SUPPORT GROUPS. Yes they exist. I’m in three of them and they help a lot. In my case, the groups’ creators approached me and asked me to join. If you send me a message, I can refer you to them. You can find my bookstagram here.

Aside from this, I also made a post on bookstagram and how to make it work. I will make another post like it if I think of more tips but for now, just check this out:

Well, that’s it! Thank you to everyone who submitted their questions. You certainly made my birthday extra special. I hope my answers satisfied you. Look out for my next Q & A post!

Do we have similar answers to the questions above? Would you love to be a part of a great prophecy or would you rather stay out of it? Tell me your thoughts below!

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you love my bookstagram. Well, I’m a huge fan of all Uncle Rick’s books actually. I think Ship of the Dead had an anticlimactic ending but it was still great overall. I wish there were more Magnus Chase books!

    1. THANK YOU SO MUCH CUPCAKE DRAGON QUEEN! I do feel so ancient now that I’m 18 and I’m having a difficult time wrapping around the fact that I’M AN ADULT NOW. What even is that. My mom got me a Harry Potter-inspired cake which is more than enough. I don’t even know what more I need to sacrifice to make my bookstagram thrive but oh well we’ll just have to see. Thank you again for the greeting!
