BLOGGERS WHO KEPT ME SANE IN 2018

Hullo bookdragons!

The year is almost over (which I know y’all with calendars are aware of) and of course, it’s time to thank some special people who made my 2018 a million times better. I saw a similar post like this on Clo’s blog and I decided to write one too. I think we should always remember to thank the right people.

I started this blogging journey with barely any confidence but I’m lucky to have my Twitter HSG family who supported me from my very first post (I LOVE Y’ALL) and after months in the blogging community, I met a handful of wonderful people who inspired me to do better.

latest

HERE ARE THE BLOGGERS WHO KEPT ME SANE THIS YEAR:

1. Cait @ PaperFury

I would be a rotten tomato on the streets without Cait. No words in all the languages in the world can describe how thankful I am to have met her. I can still remember the day when I discovered her Twitter account and I spent 15 minutes laughing at her relatable tweets. After that, I became a follower of her blog and it was like my world suddenly got bigger. I discovered new books and new authors through her and eventually, she inspired me to make a blog of my own. She’s the main reason why I wanted to READ MORE books, write better content, and conquer the world in a year or two.

She’s also one of the most supportive people I know and is probably the most skilled person at dark magic. I seriously don’t know how she manages to be a writer, reader, bookstagrammer, and blogger but she does everything spectacularly. Sorcery is the only plausible explanation of course.

It’s also important to note that her debut A Thousand Perfect Notes was one of the best books I’ve read this year and it has left a permanent imprint on my heart. I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE BOY WHO STEALS HOUSES TO BREAK MY HEART AGAIN.

Okay this is getting really long now but if you’re reading this, I would like to say thank you for everything, Cait. You’ve made me a better dragon in more ways than one.

2. ‎Evelina @ AvalinahsBooks

I met Evelina because of Cait. I read her interview with Cait and I learned that she had a whole blog feature that supports new bloggers and a Discord chat group that is made up of a lot of bloggers. Needless to say, Evelina is the reason why I met so many great people in this community. The Discord group she made gave me an outlet to reach out and interact with other bloggers. I may not be active in the group now but I try my best to pop in whenever I can.

I also admire her greatly because she posts helpful content and I can always run to her if I have questions and doubts. Check out Evelina’s post on real publicist advice on how to get review copies approved here.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING BLOGGERS LIKE ME, EVELINA!

3. ‎Clo @ bookdragons247

AH CLO MY SOUL SISTER FROM A HUNDRED MILES AWAY. She’s one of my closest blogger friends who I met through the Discord group. It didn’t take long for us to be close because we’re both dedicated bookdragons and we’re similar in many ways. I believe Clo and I came from one dragon mom actually. I also love our spontaneous banter and our collaboration posts.

She’s also ALWAYS there even with our timezone differences. If I have things to shriek about, she’s there ready to shriek with me. Love you always, sis!

4. Kaleena @ ReaderVoracious

Kal takes the award for being the most supportive blogger to international readers like me. She has a blog feature dedicated to giving out ARCs to international bloggers and another feature dedicated to giving spotlight on the lives of international bloggers. SHE DESERVES EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD, OKAY? I still can’t get over the fact that she bought Vengeful for me because my bleeding wallet couldn’t afford it.

I also admire her blog hopping powers and I truly want to emulate that skill of hers next year. Kal, thank you for everything that you do for this community. Your spreadsheets are heaven-sent and I hope we can do another buddy read next year.

5. Sophia @ BookwyrmingThoughts

Sophia has been in this community longer than the hatching of my dragon egg and that makes her a legend. Or a very powerful necromancer. Either way, I’m very glad I met her. She may claim to have a dark soul but she’s one of the kindest people I know. If I have any technical questions about blogging, she’s there to spread wisdom. I’m also amazed with her communication skills as she’s now level 60 on Discord (maybe level 65 now as we speak). She’s also one of the bloggers who scream the most (the other one is Clo) when I pop in the Discord chat.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, HANNAH SOPHIA LIN! (I love the sound of your full name so much 😂)

6. ‎Shealea @ thatbookshelfbitch

I’m glad to have Shealea in my life because she’s one of the reasons why I’m so dedicated to support Asian authors now. She’s dropped a rock on my head that convinced me to diversify my reading choices and I’ll forever be thankful for that. The love you have for Asian books and authors is influencial and life-changing. KEEP BEING A CHAMPION OF ASIAN AUTHORS. I’ll support you along the way.

She’s also the gracious host of the #Project14Lists and she posts helpful content to bookdragons all over the cosmos.

7. ‎Noura @ theperksofbeingnoura

Noura was with me throughout my bloody ARC requesting journey and without her, I would still be on Edelweiss’ hate list. She gave me tips on how to be approved on Edelweiss and she listened to all my sobbing everytime I got rejected for The Wicked King. Even though I didn’t succeed in getting approved for TWK, I’m still thankful for all the help she has given me.

Noura is also one of the most artistic bloggers I’ve ever known. Aside from Cait, she’s one of the bloggers who inspired me to make a bookstagram account. Her pictures are gold, y’all. Her bookmark designs are also blessings to this world thank you very much.

8. ‎Dany @ ambivertwords

Dany is one of my Potterhead friends and has known me since my HP book club days. I’m so thankful for all the support you’ve given me, Dany. When I think people don’t like my content anymore, you’ll suddenly pop up in my DMs and tell me that you enjoy my writing. I’M ALWAYS TEARY-EYED WHEN THAT HAPPENS. I’m really glad that I have a friend like you in this world.

9. ‎CW @ thequietpond

CW is another champion of Asian authors who influenced me to read more diverse books. Thanks for being there when I needed book recommendations and your blog always gives me all the happy feels.

She’s also a great artist and I think she has been brought to this world to make us happy with her corgi wallpapers and her cute illustrations.

You inspire me to do better, cw and thank you for that 😭

10. ‎Jamsu @ jamsudreams

Jamsu is one of my Discord chat friends and she’s been there since my blog was a flailing infant. Thank you for tagging me in your posts most of the time. You made me feel welcome in this community and your tags stopped making me feel left out. I also love talking about books with you!

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Thank you Pernille, Jess, and Muskan for always supporting my blogging journey. Meeting you in HSG changed my life and without you and my Wizarding family, this blog will now be in ashes. I’m happy that we’re also here now in the same blogging community. I know Dumbledore will be proud of us all.

To Sam @ SleepySamReads, thank you for all the support. We’re both struggling student bloggers and I’ll always be here if you want to vent out about school and blogging or anything. I also can’t thank you enough for pre-ordering King of Scars for me. LET’S SHRIEK ABOUT NIKOLAI LANTSOV AGAIN WHEN THE TIME COMES.

Also, thank you to Rafael @ theroyalpolarbearreads for including me in your blog tours and for being a good friend. You helped me to interact with more bloggers and you’re also instrumental in my interaction with fellow Filipino bloggers. Your love for Brandon Sanderson gave me a huge push to get back to reading his books again and I’m thankful for that as well.

To Sophia, we started this blogging dream together and I’m proud of the both of us that we now have our own smol brainchildren. I know you may be conscious of publishing your posts and I’m always here (the voice of reason of course) to convince you to press that little “publish” button because the world deserves to read what you’ve written.

Of course, the people on this list are not the only ones who made this journey extra special. I’m a forgetful dragon so if I haven’t listed you here, don’t feel bad. Blogging has given me a purpose aside from getting the best grades or thinking about what fresh horrors school is going to give me. EVERY OUNCE OF SUPPORT Y’ALL HAVE GIVEN ME IS SPECIAL THANK YOU VERY MUCH. You’ve made this year less stressful.
